Where Dating Republic came from
Dating Republic began as a London dating site. The datingrepublic.com domain was registered on 4 October 2007, and from 2013 to 2018 the site ran as "Dating Republic: Dating in London", with themes named after day, night and Piccadilly.
This version goes back to that idea: meeting someone, and then knowing somewhere good to take them.
What Dating Republic is now
Dating Republic is two things in one place: a dating site, and a guide to where to go once you've matched.
A dating site. Making a profile and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership. Every photo is reviewed. What members write about themselves isn't checked. An ID badge, which matches a photo ID to a selfie, is optional for most members and required for some sign-ups, such as through a VPN. Full details are on how it works.
A date-ideas guide. Real places, checked on the venue's own website, with the nearest station, times, and prices where the venue publishes them. We started with London and add towns only when every listing has been checked.

Who it's for
Dating Republic is aimed at singles in their 20s and 30s who'd rather meet somewhere good than sit in a chain pub making small talk. It started in London, and its guides cover things that work in any UK town: cheap dates, quiet dates, rainy days and nights without alcohol.
You must be 18 or over to join. The members area accepts sign-ups from the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Portugal.
It may not suit you if you want free messaging, or a site that checks what members say about themselves. We don't offer either, and we'd rather you knew now.
How the date guides are made
Every venue in our guides is checked on its own website or an official listing before it goes in, and the page shows the date of that check. Prices appear only when the venue publishes them. Lists are rechecked every quarter, and events are removed once they've passed. No venue pays to be included. The editorial policy sets out the full rules.
The partner network
Dating Republic shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. That means members who joined on another site in the network can see your profile and message you, and you them. A profile shows which site its owner joined on. We say this plainly because you should know it before you sign up.

Is Dating Republic only for London?
No. London is where it started and where the first date-ideas guide is, but any adult 18 or over can join. The members area accepts sign-ups from the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Portugal, and most of our guides work in any UK town.
Is Dating Republic free?
Joining, making a profile and browsing are free. Reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership, which renews automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing. Our prices page shows the current options, and charges appear under the billing name shown at checkout.
Why can members from other sites see my profile?
Dating Republic shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. That means people who joined on another site in the network can see your profile and message you, and you can see theirs. Each profile shows which site its owner joined on.
Do venues pay to appear in the date guides?
No. No venue has paid to appear in our guides, and there are no affiliate links on venue entries. We list a place only after checking it on its own website or an official listing, and we show the date of that check. If that ever changes for a listing, the listing will say so.
