Dating Republic is free to look around and paid to talk. Here's exactly what you get for nothing, what a membership adds, and how to stop paying.
What's free
You can do all of this without paying:
- join with an email address, a password and your date of birth;
- build a profile and add photos (every photo is reviewed);
- browse other members' profiles;
- receive interest from other members.
That's enough to see who's around before you spend anything. Free members see adverts in the members area.
What a membership adds
To read and reply to messages you need a paid membership. It also unlocks read receipts, seeing who viewed your profile and viewing photos in full. These are the current options:
| Join, create a profile, browse | Free |
|---|---|
| Read and reply to messages | Paid membership |
| 1 week | $12.99 |
| 1 month | $24.99 a month |
| 3-day trial | $2.99, then $24.99 a month |
| Optional extras | Profile boosts, priority messages, a 24-hour pass, an ID-verified badge |
US prices as shown in the members area on 16 October 2026; the members area shows the exact price before you pay. Memberships renew automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing. Charges appear under the billing name shown at checkout.
The members area always shows the exact price before you pay.
Which option suits you?
| Option | Suits you if... | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | You want a short look, or you're replying to one or two people | It renews every week until cancelled |
| Monthly | You're planning to use the site properly for a while | It renews every month until cancelled |
| Trial | You want the cheapest way to try messaging | It carries on as a monthly membership unless you cancel |
If you're not sure, start short. You can always take a longer membership later; you can't easily get back money for time you didn't use.
Renewal and cancelling
Every membership renews automatically at the end of its period until you cancel. To cancel:
- Log in at the members area.
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
Cancelling stops payments, but your profile stays. To remove it completely, open your avatar, then Settings > Delete Account. Can't log in? See log-in help.
Refunds
Refunds are set out in the members area terms. In short, they're pro-rata and only available when at least 40% of the period you paid for is unused. If you've been charged and don't recognise it, contact the help centre before your bank.
Optional extras
The members area also sells extras, including profile boosts, priority messages, a 24-hour pass, revealing who liked you, and an ID verification badge. All are optional, and none is needed to start a conversation. Read what an ID check actually proves before deciding whether the badge is worth it to you.
What shows on your statement
Charges appear under the billing name shown at checkout, which may not say Dating Republic, so note it when you pay. Because prices are in US dollars, the sterling amount on your statement depends on your bank's exchange rate and any fees it charges. More detail is on the key facts page, and how it works covers the rest.
The date doesn't have to cost much either
Once you've found someone to meet, a good first date can be free. Our cheap date ideas keep it under £20, with checked London prices.
Questions people ask
Is Dating Republic free?
Partly. Joining, building a profile, adding photos, browsing and receiving interest cost nothing. Reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership, and a few extras such as profile boosts and an ID badge are sold separately. You can look around for as long as you like before deciding whether to pay.
Why are prices in dollars?
The members area shows prices in US dollars. If your card is in pounds, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign transaction fee, so the sterling figure on your statement can differ slightly from the dollar price. Check your card's terms if that matters to you.
What will I see on my bank statement?
The billing name shown at checkout. It may not say Dating Republic, so make a note of it when you pay and you'll recognise the charge later. If you see a charge you don't recognise, contact the help centre before your bank.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are covered by the members area terms. They are pro-rata and only given when at least 40% of the paid period is unused. If you know you don't want to renew, cancel straight away so the next charge doesn't go through.
Does the trial turn into a monthly membership?
Yes. When the trial ends it carries on as a monthly membership at the monthly price unless you cancel first in Settings > Billing. Put a reminder in your phone for the day before it ends if you only want the trial.
