In short
Dating Republic lists a date venue only after checking it on its own website or an official listing, and shows the date of that check. Prices appear only when the venue publishes them. Every list is rechecked each quarter, events are removed once they've passed, no venue pays to be included, and readers can report changes through the help centre.

What makes a good date venue
A good date venue is one where you can talk, that's easy to reach, easy to leave and has something to look at. We pick places that pass all four tests:
- You can talk. Somewhere you can hear each other without leaning in and shouting.
- It's easy to reach. Near a station or a well-known landmark, so nobody is hunting for an address.
- It's easy to leave. A first date should have a natural exit point.
- There's something to do or look at, so a pause in conversation doesn't feel like a silence.
We also look for a spread of budgets, from free to worth dressing up for, and a spread of areas.
How we check each one
Before a place goes on a list, we confirm on the venue's own website, or an official listing such as a council or national body page, that it is open, and we note the details a reader needs. Each entry is linked to the page we checked, and the list shows the date of the check.
| What a listing includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Address and nearest station | The venue's own website |
| Opening times and late openings | The venue's own website, on the day we check |
| Booking rules | The venue's booking or FAQ page |
| Prices | Only when the venue publishes them |
| Access, security, dress codes | The venue's own visit or FAQ pages |
| Date of check | Shown on the page, for example "checked 17 October 2026" |
If we can't confirm something on an official source, we leave it out rather than guess.
Prices
We only give a price when the venue publishes it, and we say when we saw it. Prices change, so treat them as a guide and check before you book. We never quote prices from third-party listings.
Events and anything time-sensitive
Dated details, such as a one-off late opening or a film season, carry the date we checked them. Once an event has passed, we take it off the page. If a venue changes its hours or rules temporarily, for example reduced capacity while a lift is repaired, we say so and give the date.
How often we recheck
Every list is rechecked each quarter. The London list was last checked on 17 October 2026; the next check is due in January 2027. Places that have closed or changed are updated or removed at that point, or sooner if a reader tells us.
Towns and cities
We publish a place guide only when we have enough checked, genuinely local detail to make it useful. That's why our date ideas by place page starts with London and adds towns as their checks are finished, rather than filling pages with generic advice that could apply anywhere.
Facts beyond venues
Our guides also mention laws, helplines and reporting services, such as where to report a romance scam. We take those from the organisation's own website, such as Report Fraud or the police, and list the source on the page. We don't invent statistics, quotes or member stories, and any example message or plan is clearly labelled as an example. Facts about how Dating Republic itself works come from the members area, and are summarised on the key facts page.
Independence
No venue has paid to appear in our guides, and there are no affiliate links on venue entries. If that ever changes for a specific listing, the listing will say so.
What our guides don't do
Our guides give general, practical ideas. They aren't safety, legal or financial advice for your situation. Our safety page links to the official UK services for anything serious.
Corrections
Found a place that's closed, a time that's wrong or a price that's changed? Here's how to tell us:
- Go to the help centre.
- Include the page address and what's changed.
- If you can, add a link to the venue's own page that shows the change.
We check every report against the venue's own website before we change anything, then update the page and its checked date.
Questions people ask
Do venues pay to be listed on Dating Republic?
No. No venue has paid to appear in our guides, and there are no affiliate links on venue entries. We choose places because they make good dates: you can talk, they're easy to reach and easy to leave. If that ever changes for a specific listing, the listing will say so clearly.
How often are the date venues checked?
Every list is rechecked each quarter against the venue's own website or an official listing, and each page shows the date of its last check. The London guide was last checked on 17 October 2026, with the next check due in January 2027. A reader's report can trigger a check sooner.
Why isn't my town covered yet?
We publish a town only when every place on its list has been checked on the venue's own website or an official listing. Several UK towns are being researched now. Until yours is ready, our general guides to cheap, quiet, rainy-day and alcohol-free dates work almost anywhere.
How do I report a mistake in a date guide?
Use the help centre and include the page address and what's changed, such as a closure, new opening times or a different price. We check every report against the venue's own website before changing anything, then update the page and its checked date.
